The Sorrows of Young Werther
The Novel hero Werther lives against the social norms and the hierarchy of the era. He struggles for his existence as an individual but he pays a heavy price by being excluded from the society and commits suicide at the end. In this artwork, Goethe's novel has been rewritten anew, all the verbs have been removed and placed to the end of the book. By doing so, the audience is directed to be participative by filling in the blanks. An area has been provided where they can act in the direction of their own judgements instead of the imposed ones. By the artwork the question of how and why the social norms take shape and change through time and geography has been explored.
